Clyde David Hoops SR, 90, of Goshen Twp. Salem, Ohio, passed away at 1:25 AM, at his home on Friday, March 15, 2024.
Clyde was born on March 8, 1934 in Doniphan, Nebraska to the late Ira and Grace (Perky) Hoops.
He retired in 1983 as a supervisor of GM Lordstown Assembly Plant and was a member of Greenford Lutheran Church.
Clyde was a very special father, loved his daughters, cherished the times with the grandchildren. He had a sweet tooth for cookies, that were also shared with family.
He was never in a hurry when he went places. He had a superb memory, remembered everyone.
Clyde was a huge Green Bay Packers fan, enjoyed following Cleveland Indians as well as his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting events.
It was not uncommon to pass Clyde’s house and find him outside working in his garden, feeding the birds, on the Bush Hog, using the tractor or on the porch swing. You might also find him tinkering around the property or shooting the hateful ground hogs. Clyde liked to play the lottery, hoping for a big win.
He is survived by his children Debbie Jorgenson and Cheri (Michael) Brill of Wisconsin, and Mariann (Phil) Menter, Sue (Eugene) Mead, Patti (Michael) Scheetz, C David Hoops Jr., Michael (Diane) Hoops, and Mark Hoops all of Ohio, and his sisters Carol Flick and Marilyn Newcomb both of Wisconsin, 24 grandchildren, and 39 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Jean (King) Hoops, his brothers Philip and Kenneth Hoops, 2 grandsons, and a granddaughter.
Services will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, 1 PM at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen and Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem. His granddaughter, Pastor Emily Ebert will be officiating. The burial will take place following services at Bunker Hill Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held Monday, March 18, 2024, 6-8 PM, and 12-1 Pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Wearing of Green Bay Packer attire or colors would be appreciated.
