Alex Ovens Adams 77, of Salem, died at 9:45 AM Saturday December 24, at Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on February 24, 1939 in Mexico, Mo., the son of the late Alex O. and Margaret (Johnson) Adams. He had been a salesman for NRM, and worked out of the offices in Mexico, Detroit, Houston and Cincinnati. He was a former golfer and bowler, and played semi-pro baseball in Missouri. He was a wonderful artist and could draw and paint about anything. In his spare time, he enjoyed all kinds of cars and was a big fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. A graduate of Mexico High School, attended college for several years then went into the US Air Force from 1960 to 1964. He is survived by his wife, the former Donna C. Martin whom he married on January 9, 2004, his children, Susan (Mark) Barrett of Missouri, Alex Adams III of Canada, and Elizabeth "Libby" (Kurt) Heim of Texas and a step daughter, Christy (Rod) Anderson of Texas, six grandchildren, and his sister Ann. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Peggy. There will be no services held.
