Alice Louise Sturgell, 81, of Columbiana, died at 2:27 AM Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Salem Community Hospital. She was born on September 19, 1931 in Salem, a daughter of the late Andy and Bessie (Davis) Mead. She lived in the area all of her life. She was retired from Columbiana Floral as a floral designer where she worked for five years; was also a house-wife. She was married to Norman E. Sturgell in March of 1952 and who preceded her in death October 21, 1997. She was also preceded in death by two sisters Lena Everett and Norma Blake; six brothers; Walter Mead, Ralph Mead, Harry Mead, Dewey Mead, Paul Mead, Frank Mead, and Ray Mead. She is survived by two daughters Diana R. Warren of Lisbon and Denise R. Guy of Hohenwald, Tenn.; two sons, Doug A. (Maryann) Sturgell of Leetonia and Darrin E. Sturgell of Brogue, Pa.; a sister Faye Charnesky of Hanoverton; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and seventeen nieces and nephews; and her companion dog Annie. Services will be held Friday at 2 PM at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen and Sons Funeral Home with Scott Beck officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 1 PM until service time. Burial will be Hope Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Angels for Animals.
