Obituary

Anada Ruth (Sweely) Phillis 85, of Beloit, passed away April 16, 2018, at her daughter's home. She will be remembered as a loving mother, excellent cook, and for her passion for the family farm. She took great joy in exhibiting Holstein cattle at the Canfield Fair with her family for over 50 years and received the Ohio Holstein Woman of the Year award in 2002. Anada was born on November 7, 1932, the daughter of the late Howard and Gerene (Weber) Sweely. She attended school in Sebring. She was a member of the Bunker Hill United Methodist Church, the Farm Bureau, Ohio Holstein Association, 50 year member of Smith Grange and the Alliance Senior Center. Survivors include her children; Bobbie Coy of North Jackson, Susan (Fred) Hippely of Salem, Rodney (Tamye) Phillis of Beloit, Rosemary Phillis of Beloit, Robert (Teresa) Phillis of Salem, Beth (Bill) Mason of Salem, Jim Phillis of Greenford, Helen Miller of Salem, Dorothea Phillis of Alliance, Richard Phillis of Salem, Ruth (Matt) Boyce of Alliance, Harold Phillis of Beloit; 26 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren. Surviving siblings include, Martha Baringer of Sebring, Pat (Alice) Sweely of Sebring, David (Susan) Sweely of Sebring, John Sweely of FL, sister-in-law Liz Sweely of Salem, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" Phillis Sr., whom she married on December 28, 1948, and who passed away on June 17, 1990, ; her sister and brother-in-law, Flo (Dick) Augustine; her sister and brother-in-law, Alice (Bob) Johnson; her brother and sister-in-law, Ronald (Eileen) Sweely, her brother and sister-in-law, Mivan (Shirley) Sweely, her brother and sister-in-law, Charles (Lillian) Sweely; her brother, Mathew Sweely, and her great-grandson, Anderson Bock. Memorial contributions can be made in Anada's honor to Bunker Hill Church, 15096 W. Middletown Rd, Beloit, OH 44609, and Alliance Senior Center, 602 W Vine St., Alliance, OH 44601. A private family service will be held. Arrangements by the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services.
