Anne Maureen Mihok of Hopewell TwpThe world lost another member of the ?Greatest Generation.? Anne Maureen Mihok , 93, of Hopewell Township, entered eternal rest on April 23, 2014 with her family by her side. Born on October 24, 1920 in West Aliquippa she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Anna (Gaydos) Oros. Anne was also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Albert Mihok, a son Martin Mihok, a daughter Joyce Mihok, sister Mary DiGiovine, and four brothers, John, Andrew , Michael and Albert Oros. Anne proudly grew up in West Aliquippa. She along with her family lived through the great depression. Anne met her future husband, the late Albert Mihok, during grade school. The two became inseparable as teenagers. They became dancing partners for the rest of their lives. When World War II pulled most of the men away, including her boyfriend Albert, she fulfilled her American duty, and worked at Jones and Laughlin Steel Mill making bomb casings for the war effort. When Albert returned home from two years overseas they got engaged. They were married at St. Joseph?s Church in West Aliquippa, PA on August 29, 1946. The Reverend Michael Mihok (Albert?s brother) married the couple. Together they built a home in Hopewell Township and raised three sons. Anne later found work at Sears and Roebuck Company in the catalog division. She was a strong woman of Slovak heritage and Catholic faith. She was a long time parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima in Hopewell, Twp. and was active in Christian Mothers and the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association. Surviving Anne are her children: Gerald (Andrea) Mihok of Boardman, OH, Martin (Bonnie) Mihok of Mars, PA, Joseph Mihok of Hopewell, PA. She leaves behind six grandchildren, who loving called her ??Gi?.? Matthew (Briana) Mihok of McCandless Twp, PA, Kelley Mihok of Asheville, NC, Tonya (Sean) McClain of Imperial, PA, Brian (Michelle) Mihok of Centerville, OH, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Mihok of Boardman, OH, and Erica (Scott) Galvin of Boardman, OH., She loved holding and playing with all of her eight great-grandchildren. Anne also leaves behind a beloved brother, Emil (Maryann) Oros of Hopewell, PA. Friends will be received on Sunday April 27, from 2 ? 6 pm in the ANTHONY MASTROFRANCESCO FUNERAL HOME INC. 2026 McMinn St. Aliquippa, PA, 15001. (724) 375-0496. Departing prayers will be on Monday at 9:30am at the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at Our Lady of Fatima Church with Rev Howard Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
