Obituary

Brian F. Grant 77, of Hanoverton, died at 2:30 PM Thursday at University Hospital, Cleveland. He was born April 2, 1937 in Oregon, son of , Arvin and Kathryn (Hoag) Grant. A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Lisbon. Brian was a hard worker over the years but did enjoy being in the Indian Guides group for fathers and sons, a baseball coach, garden and loved being a chef and went to cooking school. He enrolled in the University of Utah after serving in the Navy from 1956 to 1961. Brian met Marina in California where they were married in 1966. In 1970 they moved to Ohio, where Brian was employed by the Monsanto Corp. in Akron for several years. With his wife Marina, they started The Wooden Hen in 1974, creating handcrafted folk art and primitives. They had a store front in Lisbon, Ohio and a booth at Shaker Woods for many years. Together they created artwork that and can be found all over the world. Brian loved to cook for family and friends. His wonderful Christmas dinners that he prepared for the past 49 years will be especially missed. Brian and his son Chris walked the Appalachian Trail together in 2001. Brian also enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid Fisherman and hunter, and loved to camp with his family. Brian loved his dogs, and also enjoyed all kinds of music. Brian is survived by his wife, Marina J. (Alexee) Grant, Children: Kim Grant-Pearson, Utah Joshua Grant, Hanoverton, and Chris Grant, Hanoverton, Siblings, Marilyn "Miki" (Husband, Parley) Newman, Utah, one grandchild and one great grandchild. He was Preceded by his Parents, Arvin and Kathryn (Hoag) Grant and a Son and Brian James Grant Services: 11 AM Tuesday, In Lisbon at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The Salem honor guard will perform the military honors. A time of visitation will be held on Monday 6-8 PM at Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services in Salem and one hour before the services at the church on Tuesday. The burial will be in Woodsdale Cemetery.
