Carl John Schlundt 83 of Salem, died at 10:17 AM Saturday, August 26, upon arrival in the emergency room of Salem Regional Medical Center following an apparent heart attack at his home. He was born on June 3, 1934 in Los Angeles, CA, the son of the late Emil John and Sarah Winifred (McIntosh) Schlundt. He joined the Air Force in 1953 and received an honorable discharge after serving for 3 years during the Korean War. Carl was Catholic by faith and last worked as an auto mechanic in several auto shops in Arizona. He is survived by his wife, the former Patricia A. Koch, who he married on June 27, 1959, seven children, Mary Ryan of WA, John Schlundt, Bob Schlundt, Barbara ( Michael) Friday, Thomas (Amy) Schlundt all of OR, Terrie (Randy) Marshall of East Palestine, OH, Jan (Sean) Knapp of AZ, seventeen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and a nephew in CA. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister Mary Reed and a grandchild.
