Carla Sue (Hawkins) Hoperich-Hurley 52, of Russiaville, Ind., (formerly of Salem, Ohio) died at 12:45 AM Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Indiana University Hospital, Indianapolis, Ind. She was born on March 1, 1962 in Waynesville, Missouri, daughter of Mary (Diviney) Hawkins Wagner, and the late Ralph Hawkins. She lived most of her life in the Salem area, then moved in early 2000 to Indiana. She was employed at the Over Head Door as a book Keeper. She attended the West Middleton Methodist Church in W. Middleton, Ind. Carla was a real socialite and enjoyed being amoungst people. She managed the Poland branch of Ezio's Restaurants, worked at the Penn Grill, Side Door, and Salem Eagles. A member of the Ladies VFW Post 1152 and Eagles club in Kokomo, Ind. There were many things she enjoyed doing like Cooking, crafts, reading, and making jewelry. A collector of good food recepies, loved to host and entertain family dinners. She loved animals especially her faithful companion, golden retriever Joey. With her out going personality made it easy for her to be her self while listening to her music, going to concerts or just spending time with all her grandchildren. she would come back to Salem for a sporting event or special program of her grandchildren when she was able. She was planning to be in Alliance for Darla's graduation on Wednesday the 18th. She came home to Salem for the last time, less than 20 minutes before the start of her graduation. In addition to her mother of Salem, she is survived by her step father, Ron Wagner of Salem, Oh., step mother Fran Kenst Hawkins of Hanoverton, Oh., husband, care giver and friend to the very end, Mike Hurley of Russiaville, Ind., her children, Michelle (Aaron) Gongaware of Salem, Darla (Ron) Mayle of Minerva, Jessica (Kevin) Ogle of Salem, and Ashley Hoperich (daughter and caregiver) of Russiaville, Ind., step children, Michelle Nearon in Texas and Chris Hurley of Illinois, siblings, Wayne Hawkins of Salem, Mark Hawkins in Indiana, Brian Hawkins of Salem, Oh., C.J. Hawkins of Hanoverton, Oh., step brothers, Justin Kenst of Salem, Oh., and Josh Kenst of Alliance, Oh., grandchildren, Austin Volino, Kaitlyn Mayle, Madelynn Mayle, Griffin Gongaware, Dylan Metzgar, Skylin Thomas, Landen Ogle, Addisyn Ogle, Carson Ogle, Makaylun Ogle, Chad Graves, Brady Hoperich and Coltan Hoperich, her paternal grand mother, Elizabeth C. (Kirkbride) Kovach of Salem, Ohio. In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by grand father Ernest Kovach, Grand father Charles Hawkins, grand parents, James and Ruby Diviney. A Celebration of Life Service will be observed in her honor, Friday, March 6, 2015 at 7:30 PM. A time of visitation will be held on Friday from 6 to 7:30 PM at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services 1617 East State Street, Salem, Ohio 44460. The Rev. Aimee Raymond will be officiating the services. The family has requested that since Carla loved animals, please make donations to an animal charity of the donor's choice.
