Obituary

Christopher Hivner, born July 2, 1963, the twelfth child of Edgar and Henrietta, departed this life on November 9, 2024, after a long and difficult illness, he was 61.

Affectionately known as "Hooter" he wore many hats in his lifetime from hunter-gatherer, to father, to self proclaimed "Sanford" looking for that piece of junk he could retire from.

Hooter had a multitude of things in his life, 10-10,000 best friends, 10-10,000 favorite fishing and hunting spots, and 10-10,000 different strains of his favorite past time.

He was a Mr. Fix It, MacGyver had nothing on MacHivner. If there was a will there was a way, he could "Billy" rig things like the best of them! Hooter would give you the shirt off his back, and if he really liked you, his pants as well. He had a big heart and an ego to go with it. Best summed by the words of his brother-in-law, Dan, "He had Grit".

He loved his family, all outdoor activities, including gardening. He made his own sauce from his tomatoes and enjoyed his favorite herb which he indulged in regularly. Hooter suffered from "terminal uniqueness" a good trait bestowed upon him.

Hooter left behind his only daughter Amber (Adam Tomkin) and four grandchildren; Anthony, Garret, Alex, and Ocie, as well as his life partner Sue Fellner and their great grandbabies, Layla and Little Man, who knew him as Pap Pap.

He is also survived by two sisters; Nancy Young of California, Maryland and Peggy Philips of Folkston, Georgia, his two brothers; Larry "Goose" (Cathy) and Carl "Animal" (Juanita) Hivner, his sister-in-law Eileen Hivner of St. Louis, brother-in-law Dan Whorton of Hubbard, a slew of nephews and nieces, great nephews and nieces, great great nephews and nieces, and some that aren't so great. Also his cat, a flea bitten varmint, named Cammie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters; Catherine "Kate" Vestal, Mary Jane "Murt" Heiss, Dorothy "Dodi" Whorton, and Rebecca "Buckwheat" Wachtel, three brothers; John "Deacon", Dan "Hog Man", and George "Piccolo" Hivner, and two nieces; Debra Heiss and Tami Engstram.

We would like to express our thanks to Sanctuary Hospice for the expert care they gave. Another shout out to his friends who helped him along his difficult journey, Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. As per his wishes there will not be any services but he would like everyone to throw one back and light one in his honor.

Our brother, you will be missed by all that knew you.

Rest In Peace.

A memorial get together will be held at a later date.
