IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Connie Jean
(Stuhldreher) Silvis
October 22, 1958 – September 24, 2024
Connie Jean (Stuhldreher) Silvis
October 22, 1958 – September 24, 2024
A friend recently said that Connie was ONE TOUGH COOKIE WITH A HEART OF GOLD. No more appropriate words could have been spoken to describe how Connie lived her life. From her twenties until she labored to take her last breath the morning of September 24, 2024, she twice battled cancer, had a portion of her lung removed, underwent liver surgery, had numerous procedures including the TAVR to repair her aortic valve, and survived a near fatal car crash. She truly was an overcomer. Not one to complain, she forged forward with the heart of a servant, especially for past and present members of our armed services. For twenty plus years, she volunteered at the Fort Pierce VFW Post 8085 where she worked the cantina and banquet hall.
Connie was born in Warren, Ohio on October 22, 1958, the daughter of the late Barbara Ann McGeary Lendak and Robert Eugene Stuhldreher. She grew up in Mineral Ridge, attended youth events at the Methodist Church, and twirled baton with the Scot-Eres. She resided in Fort Pierce, Florida for almost 25 years before returning to Ohio two years ago. Since that time, highlights of her day included visiting with neighbors, talking to mailman Matt, calling her Florida friends, spending time with her dear friend Ron, watching Highway to Heaven and Little House on the Prairie and writing countless greeting cards for birthdays, anniversaries, and Christmas.
Family was an extremely important part of her life. She doted upon her many nieces and nephews, as well as the great nieces and nephews who were born over the years. She leaves behind two sisters, Tammy McCoy of Salem, and Linda Cervello of Austintown; and three brothers, Mark (Angela) Stuhldreher of Austintown, Bruce Swegan of Salem, and John Swegan of Vero Beach, Florida. In addition to her mother and father, Connie was preceded in death by her grandparents, Gilbert and Blanche McGeary.
