Dale Clifton Barrick 81, of Salem, died at 1:02 PM Monday at Salem Regional Medical Center Emergency Room after taking suddenly ill at home. He was outside doing what he enjoyed, decorating the house for Christmas for the community to come by and enjoy. He was born on July 17, 1933 in Wadsworth, Ohio, the son of the late Gaylord Clifton and Florence (Sherrow) Barrick. Dale was formerly employed at Maloney Door, United Co-Op, UPS for 5 years in the Salem and Girard Hubs, Clark Pulley for 11 years in Salem, and then Salem City School System for 15 years as the main janitor of Southeast School building. He was a member of the Sebring Nazarene Church and had attend the Salem church. He was a veteran of the US Army and served from 1956 to 1958. Dale was well known by many in the area. He was willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who asked. He spent time helping Rich Jullerat, (the former owner) with the remodeling and running of the Salem Skate Center. He and his wife both were ticket takers at the Salem Football and Basketball games. One of the most enjoyable things over the years was to decorate for Christmas. He liked to watch the people drive by and stop to look at his display. Dale is survived by the love of his life and the light of his world, the former Thelma Jean Kerr whom he married on September 10, 1955, his girls whom he loved very much and would do anything for, including the son-in-laws, Terri Lynne Barrick, Lori Lynne (Ken) Robbins, Dale Lynne (Troy) Iler and Beth Lynne (Tom) James all of Salem, His grandchildren, Andrew and Aaron Robbins, Lindsay, Paige and Brendon Iler, Taylor, Tanner and Eli James, and his babies, Oreo and Pickles who will be lost with out him. He is also survived by his "adopted daughter" Tami Poage and her daughter Mariah, and a sister-in-law Alice Barrick of Columbiana. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Lynne Ann Barrick on March 13, 1979, siblings Galen Barrick and Marilee Fuson. A Celebration of Life Service will be observed on Saturday, December 6, 2014, 2 PM at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem. The service will be officiated by Austin French and followed by Salem Honor Guard who will provide the military honors. There will be a time of visitation held one hour prior to the services.
