Obituary

David Allen Abrams, 63, of the Salem area, passed away peacefully at 7:04 a.m. on Monday, August 17, 2026, at Salem Regional Medical Center, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on August 3, 1963, in Salem, Ohio, David was the cherished son of the late Donald and Dorothy Abrams. Rooted deeply in the community he loved, David was a proud 1981 graduate of Salem High School. He went on to pursue his calling in education at Kent State University, earning his degree in 1986.

For more than two decades, David dedicated his professional life to shaping the minds and futures of young people as a vocational educator throughout Columbiana and Mahoning counties. His classroom was more than just a place of learning; it was a space where he imparted practical wisdom, work ethic, and genuine care to generations of students, leaving a legacy of mentorship that extended far beyond the school walls.

Outside of his career, David lived life with vibrant enthusiasm and a rich array of passions. He was a devoted, lifelong fan of all things Ohio sports, cheered loudly for the thrill of NASCAR, and spent many joyful hours immersed in the high-speed hobby of RC car racing. Above all, David truly appreciated the simple, rich pleasures of life—none more enjoyably than a good meal shared in good company.

David’s memory will forever be cherished by his devoted wife, Pamela Ayres Abrams; and his loving children: Pamela Gardner-Wetherspoon and her spouse, Leslie, Daniel Gardner, and Patrick Gardner and his wife, Tracy. He also leaves behind three treasured grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his later years.

He is survived by his four brothers, who shared a lifetime of brotherhood and memories with him: Robert Scott Abrams and his wife, Cheryl; James Brian Abrams and his wife, Chola; Jeffrey Lee Abrams; and Mark Abrams and his wife, Melody. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by an infant brother, Timothy Abrams.

Funeral services to celebrate David’s remarkable life will be held on Monday evening at Real Life Assembly in Salem, Ohio. Following the services, he will be laid to rest at Highland Memorial Park in Beloit, Ohio.
