David Evan Byers Sr. 86 passed away in the early hours on September 12, 2016 in California City, California. He was born on April 23, 1930 in Salem, the son of the late Dr. Guy E and Lillian (Bass) Byers. He attended the Culver Academy in IN and Kiski Preparatory in PA. He was a Korean war veteran serving in the US Navy. He was employed at Eastern Airlines, Lockheed Martin and Northrup Grumman. He was Methodist by faith. In his spare time he enjoyed bowling, building model ships and golfing. In his younger years, he was a pilot and loved to fly. He also loved to drink chocolate milk. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death four years ago by his wife, the former Betty Yeager and his siblings, William Byers and Mary (Tom) Byers-Howett He is survived by his children, David (Kathy) Byers Jr. of Salem, Chris (Ruth) Byers of Salem, step-children Vicky York-Lambert of Atlanta GA , Hans Yeager of California City CA, Chip (Michael) Yeager of Modesto CA, 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchilren He is to be cremated and buried at sea off the coast of California City, California.
