IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David W
Criswell
February 29, 1960 – July 18, 2022
David W. Criswell, 62, of Salem, died at 9:08 AM Monday, July 18, 2022, at The Community Hospice Truman House, in New Philadelphia, Ohio.
He was born February 29, 1960 in Fort Worth, Texas. Son of LaVerne (Sewell) Criswell of Salem and the late Arvil Lee "Cris" Criswell Jr.
David was born in Texas and moved to Ohio when he was 6 years old, spending his school days and early adulthood living in Salem. In the early 90's he ventured to south of Cleveland area where he gained life experience and his strong love for dogs and taking them for walks. German Shepherds, Rottweilers, and Yorkshire Terriers always held a special place in his heart. He just couldn't stay away too long, moving back to his alma mater in 2011. David was a skilled tool and die maker and spent his life working with his hands, his work history included Atlantic Tool & Die in Seville, Ohio, Lowry Tool & Die in Salem, Ohio, Erico in Solon, Ohio, and Spike Industries in Salem, Ohio. When he wasn't working his day job he would be in the garage fixing up classic cars, like his beloved 1956 Chevy, or crafting incredibly speedy go carts for him and his boys, Nick and Justin to enjoy. Wrenching on cars was a passion of David's and he would restore and sell the cars. One of those such cars you could find was a 1970 Monte Carlo racing up the dragstrip in town. David's love of restoring classic cars allowed him to learn leather crafting giving him the ability to reupholster car seats not only for himself but also for family and friends. David enjoyed the outdoors and in the summer months you could find him out on the water trying to land the "big catch", spending his weekends camping in the woods, or toying with his guns.
He is survived by his mother; LaVerne, his sister; Deborah (Matt) Hoopes of Salem, his brother; Curtis (Lindy) Criswell of Roswell, Georgia, his sons; Nick (Liz Rhodes) Criswell of Ravenna and Justin Criswell of Salem, and his grandchildren; Joshua and Cody.
In addition to his father who died in December of 1994, David was preceded in death by his sister; Dianah Jordan.
There will be no services held at this time.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Greenisen Family of Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services of Salem.
