IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David Wayne
Floyd
March 13, 1951 – November 30, 2024
David Wayne Floyd 73, of Salem, peacefully passed away Saturday morning, November 30, 2024, while sleeping.
He was born on March 13, 1951, in Fayette County, Ky., the son of John William and Virginia Mae (Hilliard) Floyd.
He was a tool and die maker for 25 years for the Chrysler Corporation in Twinsburg, until they closed in 2010. Dave was brought up under the Lutheran religion.
He was a 1971 graduate of Salem High School and was active in football as well in track and field program. He was a captain of the team and held the record for the high hurdle. Dave went back as an assistant coach to help mentor and train the young students under the direction of Track Coach Walter "Bing" Newton.
David was a man of many talents. He could just about build anything, with beautiful results. He designed and built a complete greenhouse from scratch in his back yard. The love of gardening was then able to be enjoyed all year long. The produce was eaten or canned for the winter season. Dave had his own body shop where he would work on old hot rod cars. The 1955 Chevy Sedan Deluxe was a stand out piece of his work. Dave was also an active volunteer for Columbiana County Humane Society.
He is survived by his siblings; Crail Floyd of Mansfield, Tom (Donna) Floyd of Palm Bay, Fla., John Floyd and Sarah Kleinman as well as his longtime companion, Gertrude Alice Hogue-Floyd all of Salem, plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen and Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem.
