David Wayne Wardle of Salem passed away on Friday, September 4, 2026 at the age of 72. He was born on November 9, 1953 and throughout his life he had a heart for helping others.

David was the son of Lois (Wilson) Wardle Bruce and David William Wardle. Both of whom are deceased.

David had many varied interests and hobbies during his lifetime.

He was a big Green Bay Packers fan during his early years. He also enjoyed hiking and nature, especially the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee. Car racing was something he enjoyed and a highlight was when he was able to go to the Indianapolis 500. That was a thrill of a lifetime for him!

Although all of those things were enjoyable for him there were two areas of his life that were a priority in his heart.

The first was the United States Marine Corp and his time in the military. He often said that he believed the time spent in the service gave him the direction to become the man that he was and he was forever grateful for the opportunity to serve.

The second was his rescue pets throughout the years. He gave many pets a home filled with love and care. They were like family to him and enriched his life in numerous different ways bringing a ray of sunshine into a very ordinary day.

Special thanks to Officer Fabian Pike who took over the care of his two dogs, in addition to other numerous duties, when he could no longer care for them. David said he would be forever grateful for this man’s extraordinary help and his compassion during this most difficult time.

A private “Celebration of Life Ceremony” in November is being planned to honor this exceptional life who helped and touched so many.
