Obituary

"A life well-lived is like a favorite quilt, Stitched with the stories and the love she built. With a needle and thread and a heart of gold, She created a warmth that will never grow cold.

She found hidden treasures in the simplest of ways, In the hunt for a bargain on bright, sunny days. With her pups at her feet and a song in her soul, Keeping her family happy and whole.

From the kitchen’s sweet hum to the church’s soft prayer, You could feel all the kindness she gathered and shared. Though she’s traded her thread for a mansion of light, She’s watching us now through the stars in the night.

So look for a treasure or hug a small friend, For a love such as hers has no border or end. In the click of a needle or a dog’s happy bark, Debra’s bright spirit still lights up the dark."

Debra Kay Cresanto, 73, passed away peacefully at 1:02 PM on Friday, February 27, 2026, at Mercy Health - St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown. While our hearts are heavy, we cannot help but smile when we think of the vibrant, caring, and spirited woman she was.

Born on August 21, 1952, in Salem to the late Cletus and Lillian June (Voelker) Coffman, Debra grew up with a heart that always had room for one more. A 1970 graduate of Columbiana High School, she spent many years as a dedicated secretary, but her true "work" was the love she poured into her home and her community.

Debra was a woman of simple pleasures and grand adventures—even if those adventures only took her as far as the local garage sales. A legendary bargain hunter, she had a knack for finding hidden treasures and an even greater knack for sharing them with those she loved. Her hands were rarely still, often busy with the intricate beauty of cross-stitching or preparing a meal that made everyone feel at home. In her younger years, she was a whirlwind of energy in the church, ensuring her children were raised with a foundation of faith and fellowship. More recently, she found great peace and connection through the online services of Highway Tabernacle Church in Austintown.

Nothing brought a sparkle to Debra’s eyes quite like her family and her "fur babies." She was a devoted "dog mom" to her two beloved terriers, who were her constant, wagging companions. Whether she was visiting with relatives or attending family events, Debra was the thread that stitched everyone together.

Her legacy of kindness and joy is carried on by her children: Amy R. (Stan) Westover of Canfield, Ryan T. (Katie) Cresanto of Rogers and Nicholas J. (Angelina) Cresanto of Howland, her fiance/companion Mark E. Skinner of Austintown. She is also survived by her sister Christine Crihfield of Carrollton, and her five cherished grandchildren, Cadence, Claire, Liam, and Giulia Cresanto, and Keppelin Westover.

Debra has gone to join those who went before her: her parents, her sister Patricia Walton, and her precious granddaughter, Amanda Westover. We imagine her now, perhaps finding the best bargain in heaven or sitting quietly with a perfect cross-stitch in her lap.

Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Greenisen family of the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services in Salem. To honor Debra’s memory, we invite you to find a treasure at a yard sale, cook a favorite meal for someone you love, or give a little extra treat to a furry friend today.
