Donald L. Abrams 85, of Salem, died at 1:15 PM Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Copeland Oaks / Crandall Medical Center.

Don was born on April 2, 1933 in Salem, the son of the late Harry and Helen (Herron) Abrams.

Don worked for the US Postal Service as a mail carrier in Salem for 33 years. He had been a long time member of the Salem First United Methodist Church and a veteran of the US Marine Corp. In his early years in Salem High School, he was a talented basketball player. After graduation in 1951, he took up other activities such as bowling and golf. He also served as a Cub Scout Master. Don always kept active, and after his wife Dorothy passed he could be found all over Salem.

He is survived by his five sons, David, Jeffrey and Mark all of Salem, Robert (Cheryl) Abrams of DE, James (Chola) Abrams of CA, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Dorothy M. Williams, whom he married on June 24, 1962 and who died on October 12, 1996.
