IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donald Ross
Brackin Sr.
November 18, 1960 – October 26, 2025
Donald Ross Brackin Sr. 64, of Salem, passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2025, in the emergency room of Salem Regional Medical Center following a long hard battle with cancer.
He was born November 18, 1960, in Camp Pendleton, Oceanside, California, the son of Ruth Jane Leonard and the late John Dale Brackin.
After his birth in California, Don moved to Florida, where he attended Dixie M. Hollins High School in St. Petersburg, during high school he came to live and remain in Salem. He was a self-employed handyman for 34 years who specialized in rebuilding carburetors.
Donald Sr. created a funny saying for his youngest boy, "What Bubba wants, Bubba always gets" because Donald Jr., being the youngest child got spoiled more. At least that's what his older siblings thought, and was still a running joke in the family to this day.
Don enjoyed the outdoors especially riding his motorcycle, fishing with his kids and then with his grandkids, and hunting with his son. He was a member of the Beavercreek Sportsman Club in Washingtonville for over 20 years.
In addition to his mother of Salem, Don is survived by his children; Donald Ross (Courtney) Brackin Jr. of Washingtonville, Jennifer Rose Brackin of Bristolville, and Dawn Renee Brackin of Damascus, his brother John Dale Brackin of Alliance, his grandchildren; Chevella Brackin, Kaitlin Shingler, Autumn Shingler, Breauna (Willie II) Coleman, Chloe Jordan, Steven Grabowski, Donovan Brackin, Ciara Williams, Kobe Brackin, Olivia (Javier) Villegas, and Jaylynn Rogers, his great-grandchildren; Willie Coleman III and Charles Coleman and 2 additional great-grandchildren on the way, his longtime caretaker and mother of his children, Rena Brackin of Salem, and his close friend, whom he saw as more of a daughter, Tina Milliron of Salem.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his step-father Frank Lawrence, his daughter Trena Marie Brackin, brothers; Michael Glenn Brackin and Robert Allen Brackin, and his father figure and friend William "Bill" Borrelli.
A Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, November 1, 2025, 5 PM, at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services of Salem. A time for visitation will be 3-5 PM Saturday, at the funeral home. Don will be laid to rest alongside his daughter, Trena, in Grandview Cemetery at a later date.
