Obituary

Owner of Current Electric in Salem. Donald E. Huston 70, of Salem, died unexpectedly early Monday morning at his home. He was born on May 14, 1943 in New Castle, Pa., the son of the late Stewart William and Frances (Hutton) Huston Sr. Don will always be remembered as being a very hard worker. He has been an electrician since he was 19 years old. In his early years he worked for Julian Electric in Salem, Axclson Electric in Youngstown and Inntech in Lowellville. Thirty nine years ago he opened Current Electric here in Salem. He was a teacher in the Electrical Apprenticeship program for 30 years in Cleveland, Lowellville, Kent and the Salem area. He also had been a Columbiana County Electrical Inspector. Don was a member of the Church at the Center in Salem, where he served as an elder, leader in prayer meetings,(note: The last prayer meeting, Don spoke about the scripture in 1 John, "Walking in the light". Don was quiet and not open to talk much, but this past week he did open up and share with the group.) and did anything else that needed done. He also had been a member of the Salem First Friends Church. He was an avid golfer and was on a league at Westville Lake Golf Course. ( Note: The day before Don died, he went out golfing at Westville.) A member of the Gideon's Bible Society. A former member of UCT 590, and the Willow Grove Grange and a former Chief of the Salem Police Aux. force. He is survived by his wife, the former Judy M. Howells who he married on September 9, 1989, his children, Darlynne (Todd) Drake of Salem, Doreen (David) Close of Virginia, and Dwayne (Alecia) Huston of Copley, Ohio, daughter-in-Law Wendy Huston of Washington, siblings, Carolyn (Lynn) Sanor of Salem, Leona (Gary) Russell of Salem, and Stewart "Billy" Huston Jr. of Salem, grandchildren, Matthew (Austin) Huston, Kylie (Ryan) Knight, Haley and Magen Drake, Tony and Arren Close, Alianna, Elena and Michael Huston. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son Darrin Huston in 2006. A Celebration of Life Service will be observed on Friday, 11 AM at the Salem First Friends Church with Pastor Tim Ginter of the Church at the Center officiating, assisted by Pastor Pete Fowler and Pastor Mark Headland. The burial will be at Highland Memorial Park in Beloit. A time of Visitation will be observed on Thursday, 6-8 PM at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem.
