IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donald Carroll
Myers
June 27, 1943 – February 29, 2024
Rev. Donald Myers, 80, of Lisbon, died peacefully the evening of Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Saint Mary's Windsor House in Columbiana.
Donald was born on June 27, 1943, in Georgetown, Illinois, one of twin sons to Forrest and Mary Jane (Loveall) Myers.
Don grew up in Newport, Indiana with his 6 siblings; Beverly (Davis). Twin brother-Ronald Myers, Dale Myers, Rosemary (Fortner), Dianna (Lawson), and Deanna (Bigger), Don and his brother, Ron, were identical mirror image twins who were taught to work hard on their small farm and help support the family. The twins loved to play basketball for their local high school. When Don was 16 years old, he fell in love with Jesus and his life took on a major change. Once finishing high school, felt called to God to become a minister of the gospel. He went to Frankfort Pilgrim Bible College for 5 years and earned his Bachelor of Arts in Pastorial Ministries in his 4th year of college, he met the love of his life, Beth Ferguson. They were married on September 27, 1968, and then after graduating college, they took their first pastorate in Port Leyden, New York. Don and Beth were the pastors of 4 churches; Port Leyden, New York (3 ½ years); Russell, New York (11 years); Howard, Pennsylvania (12 years); and Venus, Pennsylvania (15 years). Their entire ministry totaled 41 ½ years, sharing the gospel and living out what Jesus had done in their lives.
Three sons were born to Don and Beth; Philip, Paul, and Timothy. Don was an amazing father, naturally quiet and shy but loved his sons and spent untold hours with them. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his boys, and eventually with his 6 grandchildren, to whom he thrived on being the best "Pap". He loved making his grandkids laugh and created a lot of lasting memories with them.
Don and Beth retired in June of 2010 and moved to a quiet, country home in Lisbon, where Don spent time mowing the yard and keeping up their house. He occasionally helped his sons Phillip and Paul on their construction jobs. Don and Beth faithfully attended Salem Wesleyan Methodist Church in Salem, where he often shared his life's testimony and became an inspiration to all he came in contact with. Don's love and adoration for his Lord and Savior was the focal point of his life, and his greatest joy was to encourage and lead others to Christ as well.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Beth (Ferguson) Myers, his three sons; Philip, (Kimberly) Myers, Paul (Sue) Myers, and Timothy (Candice) Myers, and his six grandchildren; Courtney (Joshua) Bell, Clayton (Julia) Myers, Brianna Myers, Tyler Myers, Coen Myers, and Rachel Myers.
Donald was preceded in death by his older sister, Beverly (Davis) in 2022, and also his twin brother, Ronald in 2023.
A service to honor Don's life will be at 6:00 pm, Friday, March 8, 2024, at the Salem Wesleyan Methodist Church with Pastors Stanley Grabill and Devon Gray, officiating. A time of visitation with the family will be from 4:00-6:00 pm.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services in Salem, Ohio.
