IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donald Ray
Stout
April 2, 1932 – January 1, 2022
Donald Ray Stout 89, of Salem, died 7:16 PM Saturday, January 1, 2022, at his home.
He was born on April 2, 1932 in Carrollton, Ohio, the son of Delbert and Ethel (May) Stout.
Donald was a US Army veteran and served during the Korean War. He was last employed at Hunt Valve and Colfor Mfg. in Salem and had attended the Salem Schools. He was a 50+ year member of the E. Palestine Masonic Lodge # 417 F & AM and a member of the American Legion.
Don was always on the go and doing something. He always said that "Stout meant a worker". If you would have ever stopped by the house it was very likely to have found him tinkering with things and fixing things. He was never afraid to work and was willing to help his children whenever he could. He loved the outdoors in the garden growing tomatoes and peppers. His crop would later be turned into juice and other things good to eat.
He loved his family as they all did him. He may have been a bit grumpy at times but was also flustered with modern times.
He is survived by his children: Diana Barber of Cincinnati, Nicole Stout of Salem, Jack Stout of Mineral Ridge, and Stepson Ron Zellers of Tampa, Fla., twelve grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his third wife, Sandy (Panzott) Stout, Son Dean Stout, stepson Larry Zellers, siblings: Jean Roberts, Harold "Bud" and Faye Stout.
A private service was held on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem. The Salem Honor Guard rendered military honors and concluded with East Palestine and Perry Masonic Lodges having a service. The burial was in Grandview Cemetery in Salem.
Memorial contributions can be made to the donor's choice.
