Donna Jean (Neely) Pastier 82, of Zanesville, (Formerly of Salem) died at 4:45 AM Tuesday at the home of her son in Salem. She was born on January 30, 1932 in Salem, Ohio, the daughter of the late Carl Kenneth and Mildred Marguerite (Wilson) Neely. Donna has been a resident of Zanesville for the last 28 years, formerly of Salem, N. Canton and E. Liverpool. She was a 1949 Graduate of Salem High School where she was a majorette in the Salem Quaker Marching Band. After high school she was employed for a short time at the Ohio Bell Telephone Company as a switchboard operator. After the telephone company, she devoted her life to raising her family. Donna enjoyed doing volunteer work in the gift shop at Good Samaritan Medical Center while being in Zanesville. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Zanesville where she was a member of their prayer group. She also attended the Salem St. Paul's Catholic Church. She enjoyed her ceramics and making many keepsakes for her children to remember her by. She loved to watch professional tennis and figure skating. She is survived by her children, Lori (Don) Kainrad of Ravenna, Tom (Lori) Pastier of Salem, Diane (Warren) Ackerman of Bolivar and Ken (Becki) Pastier of New Franklin, a sister Pat (Walt) Ehrhart of Salem, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren, a sister-in-law Sally Davis, several nieces and nephews and many long life friends. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Thomas J. Pastier on December 18, 2013. A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, 10:30 AM at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem. A Mass will be held at 11 AM at the Salem St. Paul's Catholic Church with Father Steven Wassie serving as the Celebrant. The Burial will follow where she will be reunited with her husband in Grandview Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation for family and friends from 9:30 to 10:30 AM Saturday at the funeral home. The family has requested that memorial contributions to be made to the American Cancer Society 525 East Broad Street, Canfield, Ohio 44406 or to a chariety of the donor's choosing.
