Dwight L. Nelson Sr., 62, of Salem, died at 7:27 PM Tuesday at his home with his family. You were taken from us far too soon. You were a great father, grandfather, husband, brother and friend. You were always there for all of us no matter what we needed. You were loved by many and will be deeply missed. Dwight was born on March 15, 1952 in Winchester, Va. To the late H. O. and Ruth V. (Bohrer) Nelson. He just retired this year from Brunk's RV where he was a truck driver of theirs for 22 years. He was currently attending the Connecting Point Chapel in Beloit, and formerly the Salem Allegheny Wesleyan Church. He had been an assistant soccer coach, worked with the youth groups with nursing home ministry, former bus driver at the Salem Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Church, Deacon of the Brothern Church in West Virginia, currently as usher at Connecting Point Chapel. He was an avid hunter, a member of the NRA, Fishermans Association, and a mushroom hunter. He had received from the Teamsters Union an award for his miles of traveling as an Excellent Driver. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sarah Ann (Ling) Nelson, whom he married on January 13, 1978, his children, Dwight (Sarah) Nelson Jr. of Idaho, Nicholas and Adam Nelson both of Salem and Shannon Nelson-Bell of Salem, siblings, Alvin Nelson of Chambersburg, Pa., Herman (Jan) Nelson of Great Cacapon, Wva, Wanda (Aden) Ebersole of Chambersburg, Pa., Helen (Herman "Linn") Cowgill of Milton, Del., Linda (Frank) Lambert of Augusta, Wva., grandchildren, Natalia, Chloe, Alexander and Islandora. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings Kenneth, Jennings and Dale Nelson. Services will be held on Saturday, 11 AM at the Connecting Point Chapel, Beloit (On Rt. 165, north of Westville, Ohio from Rt. 62) The Pastor James Keaton will be officiating. A time of visitation will be held on Friday from 5-7 PM at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem, and from 10 to 11 AM Saturday at the church. The family has asked that donations be made to help with the cost of the funeral. They can be mailed to POB 113, Salem, Ohio 44460-0113.
