Earl & Ruth "Together Again" Earl C. Slagle, 85, of Salem, died at 12:30 PM Monday at Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Salem. He was born July 16, 1927 a son of the late Owen C. and Esther (Bush) Slagle. He was a 1945 graduate of Greenford High School. He was self-employed as a vegetable farmer, retiring in 1996, 4 H advisor, and displayed vegetables at the Canfield Fair that he grew on his farm. He was also a 51 year member of the Green Township Volunteer Fire Department where he had served as Treasurer. In addition he was member of the Greenford Lutheran Church. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth (Allen) Slagle on September 27, 2010, whom he married December 31, 1949. He is survived by a son William Slagle of Columbiana, two sisters, Mrs. Paul (Marilyn Mae) Davisson of Lake Milton, and Mrs. Rev. Peter (Lucy Inetta) Larson of Des Moines, Iowa, two grandchildren Erica Slagle and Jessica (Jacob) Lodge, and a great-grandchild Jesse James Lodge. He is also preceded in death by a brother Rev. Lester Edward Slagle and a son Eugene Slagle. Services will be held on Friday at 11 AM at the Greenford Lutheran Church with Pastor William Wilkins officiating. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 6 to 8 PM at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen and Sons Funeral Home and from 10 to 11 AM on Friday at the church. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery in Salem.
