Pastor Edwin J. Gurney 79, of East Palestine, (formerly of Youngstown, AL and Dayton) died at 1:10 PM Friday at Salem Regional Medical Center. He was born on October 3, 1939 in Dayton, OH, the son of the late Edwin Carroll and Nancy Viola (McFarland) Gurney. He was a retired minister and served in the US Army. He is survived by his children, Tina Gurney, Garry (Gina) Gurney and Cindy Gurney all of AL, Mike (Mary) Gurney of TX, Nancy Melott and Sharon (Tommy) Beatty of PA, Jerry and Edwin Gurney Jr both of Eeast Palestine, Tammy Allen and Terry Gurney both of CA, 21 grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. He will be buried in the Dayton National Cemetery, Dayton, OH near his father's grave. He will receive full military honors services officiated by US Army Chaplain.
