Edwin R. Smith (aka Buster), 86, of Salem, died on February 2, 2022 at St. Mary's Alzheimer Center in Columbiana, Ohio.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Suzanne Smith (nee Shearer). Also, surviving are his children Robert (Debbie) Smith, Marilyn Blackburn and Douglas (Dorie) Smith.

His grandchildren Brian (Jamie) Smith, Becky Smith (Derik Heidemann), Mike Smith, Eric Smith, Brandy (Joe) Huckaby, Andy Blackburn, Jake (Courtney) Blackburn, Toby Blackburn, Jonas Smith, Jocelyn (Audric) Tejedor, Jared (Bridgette) Smith.

His great grandchildren Kristin Smith, Luke Smith, Kaleb Huckaby, Paige Huckaby, Aiden Blackburn, Jayden Blackburn, Brantlee Blackburn, Paisley Blackburn, Tobias Blackburn, Kalani Tejedor, Ikaika Tejedor, Malinah Tejedor and Kekoa Tejedor.

He is also survived by his sister-in-law Katie Smith (nee Sigle) and nieces Christy Malone (nee Smith) and Linda Daniels (nee Smith).

He was preceded in death by his parents George and Nellie (nee Kampfer) Smith, His brother Richard Smith, son in law David Blackburn, nephew David Smith and Infant grandson Joseph Blackburn.

Ed was a quiet, easy-going man always striking up a conversation with a stranger. He enjoyed family visits, hunting, learning how to square dance with his wife, having his dog by his side, watching TV and sleeping in his recliner.

Ed was a 32 Degree Mason/Past Master of the Salem City Masonic Lodge F & AM (nka Perry Masonic Lodge) and has been in Mason for 57 years. Ed was a member of the Aut Mori Grotto where he became a clown named "HO HO" and participated in many local parades and loved to entertain the kids. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite and Eastern Star. Ed was a warehouse manager for Fleming Company and was a lifelong member of the Greenford Lutheran Church.

Family and friends will be received Saturday, February 12, 2022, from 1:00 to 3:00 at Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services in Salem. The Perry Masonic Lodge will be holding a service at the end of the visitation.

A church service will be held following the visitation at 4:30 at the Greenford Lutheran Church in Greenford, Ohio officiated by Rev. Mike Knauff.

Ed will be interred at Grandview Cemetery in Salem. It was his wishes to have a visitation and services then to be cremated after the services.
