Obituary

Elaine Kay (Hoops) Carpenter 79, of North Georgetown, died at 8:05 pm on Sunday, March 24 at her home.

She was born on November 28, 1939, in Alliance, OH, the daughter of the late Alf and Kathryn Lucille (Cunningham) Hoops.

Elaine had attended the Alliance Baptist Temple and Alliance Friends Church. She formerly work at Copeland Oaks, Alliance Manufacturing and Genie Garage Door for 39 years. She graduated from Goshen High School in 1957. She was a former member of the Sebring Eastern Star. Elaine and her husband obtained private pilot license and flew Taylor Craft planes. She enjoyed dancing, traveling, concerts, country music, going to Mountineer Casino and gardening. She always enjoyed family events, one day trips and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Melinda Kay Nitz of North Georgetown, Lisa Lynn Haupt of Beloit, Sherry Lynn Barker of Alliance, nine grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Linda S. Carr of E. Rochester, and cousin Linda Reber of Ormond Beach, FL.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, William P. Carpenter in 2011, daughter, Laurie Ann Powell, her siblings: Marlene Persinger and James Hoops and one great granddaughter.
