Obituary

Elizabeth Hawkins 83, of Salem, died at 9:30 pm on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Youngstown.
She was born on February 4, 1936 in Hume, NY, the daughter of the late Esther Elizabeth Hawkins.
She graduated from high school from the former Emmanuel Bible School in Salem. She worked at the State of Ohio Land Reclamation office as a secretary. She had previously worked at the former Schmuel Bookstore. She was a former member of the Salem Pilgrim Church then attended the Home Mission Church in Alliance. Elizabeth was a very active and caring person who could be counted on to volunteer whenever help was needed. She was a Sunday School teacher, a VBS teacher, on Saturdays, she taught the Sunbeams at the Seneca Street Mission in Alliance. She and her sister Ruth would visit and hold church services at Crandall Medical Center and Essex of Salem, and sing at various holiness camp meetings. She enjoyed cooking and canning. One of the main things that she was known for was wearing matching outfits with her sister Ruth.
She is survived by her sister, Ruth Ann Hawkins of Salem and many friends.
There will be a private burial take place on Monday in Hope Cemetery.
