Ellen Louise (Wheeler) Evans 92, of Salem, died at 9:55 PM Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Salem East Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on March 13, 1926 in Youngstown, Oh., the daughter of the late Myron Marshall and Velma Blanch (Mayberry) Wheeler.
She was a home maker and a member of the Concord Church in Salem. Ellen was known over the years for her love of gardening. She loved to freeze and can the harvest from her garden. The flowers beds she planted both at her home and at her church were just beautiful. Ellen was active in the church and sang in the church choir. She was a good seamstress, she made and altered clothing over the years. In her spare time, she did crafts, knitting and other sewing type projects. Her family was very important to her and loved to make Christmas family dinners. She and Jim were involved in a card group that played every Friday night. Ellen's love for family could be seen in all that she did over the years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death on March 26, 1994 by her husband James Thomas Evans whom she married on August 2, 1952, and a brother Richard Wheeler.
She is survived by her children, Gary D. (Rosalind) Evans and Laurie E. Bell both of Salem and Mark T. (Kimberly) Evans of Beloit, six grandchildren and thirteen and a half great grandchildren.
