Obituary

Ethel Mae (Yates) Sheen 88, of Damascus, died at 12:12 PM Friday at the Salem Regional Medical Center due to pneumonia.

She was born November 28, 1925 in Salem, daughter of the late Eldon S. and Florence (Burns) Yates.

She has been a resident of the area all her life. The last two years she has been a part of the Auburn family in Damascus at Auburn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Ethel was one who loved to read and play Bingo. She has been one over the years to attend church services, craft events, senior gatherings and events.

The family wishes to thank the staff and management of Auburn, the doctors at Firestone Health Care for the love, care and compassion they have extended to Ethel and the family.

Ethel is survived by her children, Joyce (Gary) Crum of Youngstown, Gary (Karen) Sheen Sr. of Beloit, David (Ann) Sheen of Seffner, Fla., Cheryl Teed of Indianapolis, Ind., James K. (Alice) Sheen Jr of Lisbon, Christina Mazzie of Alliance, a sister Florence Marie Stark of Beloit, 19 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James K. Sheen whom she married on January 11, 1947 and who died on April 3, 1995, a daughter Cindy Hall Ellis on June 4, 2009, a brother Robert Yates, a grand son and a great grand son.

Services will be held on Wednesday, 1:30 PM at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem. The burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Beloit.

A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the services.
