IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Fernando
Martinez
August 26, 1946 – December 27, 2023
Fernando "Marty" Martinez 77, of Youngstown, died at 10:50 Pm Wednesday, December 27, 2023, after taking ill on December 18, 2023.
He was born on August 26, 1946, in Edinberg, Texas, the son of Antonio and Paula (Torres) Martinez.
He has been a resident of the Youngstown area since July, 2017. Marty was a retired Sargent Major in the US Army, served during the Vietnam War and after (1966 and reserves until 1995).
Marty made friends easy, he was very sociable and could strike up a conversation easy. He would go out of his way to go and thank all the veterans he could find. A very mechanical minded / handy / tinkering at doing and fixing things. If he was not doing things around the house, he could be found out with others helping them. A big traveler in his day, with the RV traveling around the United States. The good ol' outlaw country music playing in the background most of the time.
Marty enjoyed his new found family and their togetherness. One of the best things he found doing was eating a good steak. A true man of faith, attended the Highway Tabernacal in Austintown.
He is survived by his second wife, Linda L. (Brown) Martinez, siblings; Noe, Alma, Griselda and Cintia all in Mexico, step children; Shaun (Regina) Griffin and Sonya Rahim, numerous step-grandchildren and numerous step-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Ruth G. Martinez, siblings; Aeracelly, Ismal and Jose and a step-son Shaun Griffin.
