Obituary

Frank Thomas Parks 83, of Salem, died at 6:30 AM Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Salem Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Petersburg, Ohio, one of eight children in the Parks family.

Frank graduated in 1959 from Springfield Local High School. He was a very athletic-minded person and involved in many of the sports programs. He received sports scholarships to Ohio State University to further his education. Frank also served in the military reserves. On November 27, 1964, he married the love of his life, Yvonne. They moved to California and taught for six years. In 1972, they returned to Salem to embark on his local teaching career at Salem High School which spans over 48 years. His career of teaching was in the sciences of Biology, Anatomy, and Physiology. He also served as a coach for running, track, and basketball. Frank was a very passionate lifelong learner. That was a trait that he passed down to his children. He was always known for his desire to be out running whenever possible. Frank was one who remembered his students over the years, but in general, loved to be among the people. He had a passion for gardening, working in the greenhouse at school or his outdoor gardens at home.

He is survived by his wife whom he shared 59 years of marriage, three children; Gregory (Jennie) Parks, Graham(Jennifer) Parks, Erin (Jason) Kivo, and five grandchildren.

Frank had expressed his desire to not have any services held. Please go to apgreenisenfh.com and express your words of condolences and comfort to the family.

Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem.
