Gary John Seroka 58, of Lisbon, died at 7AM Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at his home in Lisbon. He was born on May 30, 1955 in Salem, the son of the late Edward and Anna (Solomon) Seroka. Gary attended St. Paul's School in Salem and graduated in 1973 from Salem High School. He graduated with his Journeyman's degree in tool and die from the Salem Trade School. He had attended St. Paul's Catholic Church in his younger years, served as an alter boy. He moved from Salem area in 1982 to Lisbon. He was last employed at Quaker Mfg. as a tool and die maker until 1990. He also was employed at Morgan Engineering, TRW and Bliss. Gary was an avid outdoors man and enjoyed nature to the fullest. He enjoyed living out in nature and roughing it in his little get-a-way in Center Township. His abilities were far beyond what most people ever knew. He made from scratch for one of his doctors a small functioning canon as a gift. Gary was a member of the Salem Hunting Club, a life member of the NRA, a member of the Columbiana County Sportsman Club near Elkton, a Certified Scuba Diver in the Florida Keys. He was asked and qualified to join the Sharp Shooting Team to represent the United States in the Olympics. He also had interest in old cars from the 60's and 70's. He enjoyed working on them as well as making the muscle cars show what they were made of by driving them. He had a dream of going to visit Wyoming but never made it due to his illness. Gary's interest of photography and astronomy were many times combined over the years. On a good clear night, with the help of family he would haul out the giant telescope to view the stars and far off places. This allowed him to take many pictures to share with those who may not ever see such things. He has taken many pictures and has some on display now at the Butler Art Institute in Youngstown. He is survived by his wife, the former Ronnetta (Strait) Seroka whom he married on February 28, 1987, a sister Carol Seroka-Cook of Belmont, NC., and a brother Edward Seroka of Akron, Oh., three step children, Ronald, Mitchell and Michael Lacey, and five step grandchildren. Services will be held on Saturday at 1 PM at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem. The Fr. Steven Wassie of St. Paul's Catholic Church will officiate.
