Obituary

Gary Lee West 54, of Salem, died on Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown. He was born on July 4, 1959 in Revenna, Ohio the son of Ernest West and the late Nancy (Frame) West. He was formerly employed with Neptune Equipment as a project manager, installing water meters in NE Ohio and Western Pa. He currently was a part time Sales Associate at the Salem Home Depot. Gary was a man who was always busy, but would take time out of his busy day to help anyone in need. He was the "Mr. Fix it " man on many things. He enjoyed old and Western books and movies, and spending time with his grandchildren. He took Joan on trips to Amish country so she could go shopping. He was a collector of knifes and an avid watcher of MSNBC. He was a graduate of Southeast High School in Revenna and moved to the Salem area in the mid 1990's. He had attended both the Winona Methodist Church and the Winona Friends Church. In addition to his father of Ripley, W.Va., he is survived by his wife, the former Joan Hutton, whom he married on June 14, 1997, his children, Virginia West and Pam (Marvin) West both of Revenna, step children, Melissa (Damon) Ensign of Medina, Adam Blake of Homeworth, Steven (Jami) Blake of Salem and Kurt (Billie Jo) Blake of Salem, siblings, Jerry West of Ky., and Patricia West of Fla., his grandchildren, Jamie, Toby, and Dakota West, Kylee of Ensign, Tyler, Kade, Caleb, Levi, Seth, and Zach Blake. A Celebration of Life Service will be observed on Friday, 1 PM at the Winona Methodist Church with the Pastor Mary Owen of the church officiating. The burial will follow in Bunker Hill Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 11 AM to 1 PM on Friday at the church.
