Gloria Jean (Fleming) Paster, a beacon of warmth, love, and unwavering devotion to her family, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026, at Salem Regional Hospital. Born in Massillon, Ohio, on May 24, 1942, Gloria brought a bright and gentle spirit into the world, one that would touch countless lives over her 84 beautiful years. She was the cherished daughter of the late Lorene (Campbell) Furrer and Edward Furrer, who surely welcomed her home with open arms.

For over six decades, Gloria’s heart belonged to her beloved husband, Paul Paster Sr., whom she wed on January 30, 1960. Together, they built a life rooted in deep affection, laughter, and a shared dedication to the family that meant everything to her. Gloria’s nurturing nature extended into her professional life as well; she spent many years caring for others as a surgical technician at Salem Hospital, retiring in 2005 with a legacy of kindness and hard work.

To Gloria, family was always number one, and she wore her titles of wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother like badges of honor. Her love lives on through her children, Diana Veon and her husband Eugene of Salem, Angela Rogers of Salem, and Paul Paster Jr. and his wife Lisa of Frederick, Maryland. She was a source of endless joy to her five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one precious great-great-grandchild, each of whom brought a special sparkle to her eye.

A woman of faith and community, Gloria was a dedicated member of St. Paul’s Church in Salem. When she wasn't spending time with her family, she could often be found lost in the pages of a good book, enjoying a sunny day out on the golf course, or sharing laughs and friendly competition at her regular card club.

Gloria is survived by her loving sisters, Margaret Thorne and her husband Ted of Salem, and Helen Furrer of Salem, who will fondly cherish the lifetime of memories they shared. She was preceded in death by her dear brothers, Steve Furrer and William Furrer. Gloria’s life was a beautiful tapestry of love, service, and joy, and while she will be deeply missed, the warmth of her smile and the kindness of her soul will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew her.
