Obituary

Harold Spencer, a man of steady hands and a kind heart, passed away on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2026, at East Liverpool City Hospital at the age of 85.

Born on December 11, 1940, in Toronto, Ohio, to the late Gerald and Elizabeth (Martin) Spencer, Harold grew into a man who valued the simple, honest rewards of a day’s work and the quiet beauty of the outdoors.

On June 15, 1968, Harold married the love of his life, Nancy Sue (Wickham) Spencer. Together they shared decades of commitment, laughter, and unwavering partnership. He was a proud and loving father to his son, David Scott Spencer of Salineville, Ohio.

Harold was a fixture at the General Motors auto assembly plant for many years. There, he took pride in the craftsmanship of installing glass windows and seatbelts—literally helping to keep his community safe on the road. After retirement, he couldn't sit still for long; Harold spent years driving for the Amish community, forming bonds and offering a helping hand wherever it was needed. He was truly devoted to the families he drove for, finding genuine joy in being there for them and cherishing the time spent in their company.

Outside of his professional life, Harold was a true woodsman and an avid fisherman. He found great joy in the patience required for hunting groundhog, pheasant, and rabbit, and he was just as happy sitting by a hole in the ice during the winter as he was on a sunny riverbank in the summer. At home, Harold was an enthusiastic collector of large-scale die-cast cars and tractors, with a particular fondness for the classic greens of John Deere and the reds of Farmall. He also mastered the art of the afternoon nap, believing that a little extra sleep was the secret to a life well-lived.

Above all else, Harold was a man defined by his reliability; he was a cornerstone for those he loved, always ready to offer his presence and support whenever it was needed.

Harold was a cherished brother to Geraldine Jean Craig and Patricia Louise Gettys both of Salineville, Joyce Jones of Minerva, Harry Spencer of Salineville, Meriel (Wayne) Booker and James Spencer both of Ripley, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by three brothers; Fred, Roy, and Lawrence Spencer. His legacy continues through his two beloved grandchildren.
