Obituary

Harry O. Rhoads Jr., 88, of Salem, died at 10:15 AM Wednesday at his home. He was born on October 17, 1925 in Massillon, Ohio, son of the late Harry O. and Maryville (Mottinger) Rhoads Sr. He has been a resident of the are for over 60 years, having also lived in N. Lima area. He had been a member of the Salem First Church of the Nazarene for almost 60 years and served as usher there. He most currently was attended the Salem Bible Church. He was employed as a truck driver at 48 Insulator in Alliance and retired in 1981. He also had worked at Bob Chamois House as a driver, Kuntzman Trucking in Alliance, the egg plant in Columbiana and the Salem News. He held a private pilot license for many years and in his early years would fly for the parachute jumpers in Cleveland. A member of the Teamsters Local # 92 in Canton and a WW2 veteran of the US Navy. He is survived by his wife, the former Garnet Fern Brintzenhofe whom he married on December 21, 1946, his children, Linda Deeks of Salem, Larry (Cheryl) Rhoads of Leetonia, Kathy Muse of Wellsville, Diane (Jim) Ellis of Hartford, NC., Danny (Becky) Rhoads of Ottawa Lake, MI., and Mark (Kathie) Rhoads of Salem, a sister Shirley Girod of NY, twenty-three grandchildren, Angie (Kevin) Hampson, Jaimee (Kevin) Santangelo, Michael (Erin) Deeks, Todd (Elaine) Rhoads, Timmy (Amy) Rhoads, Sarah (John) Dolan, Amy (Dean) Farmer, Andrew Rhoads, Christopher (Chelsey) Rhoads, Jenny (Jamie) Davidson, Stefany (Michael) Green, Ryan (Shannon) Stone, Steve (Sarah) Stone, Rachel Butler, Maria Rhoads, Trisha Miller-Amato, Josh, Lauren, Jenna, Katie, Joey, Hannah, and John Rhoads, twenty-eight great grandchildren,Tristan Phillips, Ashli (Keith) Hilderbrand, Peyton &Hayden Hampson, Anthony Santangelo, Jayden and Michael II Deeks, Kaitlin & Jordan Rhoads, Ashlii (Aaron) McGeisey, Kory & Tanner Hoffman, Nathan & Miya Dolan, Wyatt Farmer, Whitnni & Isaac Davidson, Trevor Green, Reece, Riley, Sylvia & Silas Stone, Madison Amato, Bayley Leonard, Serenity & Trinity Rhoads, Fantasia & Brandon Smith and one great great grand child, Harper Hilderbrand. He was preceded in death by a son Donald Rhoads, and siblings, Hazel Brintzenhofe, Thelma Forrest, Raymond, Clyde and Paul Rhoads. Services will be held on Monday, 1 Pm at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem. The Rev. Douglas DeMar of the Salem Bible Church will officiate. The burial will be in Franklin Square Cemetery with full military honors rendered by the Salem Honor Guard. A time of Visitation will be held on Monday from 11 AM to 1 PM at the funeral home. The family has requested that memorial contributions to be made to Grace Hospice 7206 Market Street, Youngstown, Ohio 44512.
