Howard Allen Markert 58, of Youngstown, passed away in his home on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 with his beloved partner by his side.

He was born June 1, 1966, in Los Gatos, California, the son of Judith (Maldonado) Vandonzel and the late Frank Markert.

Howard grew up in Santa Clara County graduating from Del Mar High School. Relocating to Ohio later in life, he was active in community politics. A passion in genealogy led to embracing his Puerto Rican and Spanish heritage and the family name Maldonado y Alvarez.

He is survived by his life partner Clint Joste and their dog Sophie, mother Judy Vandonzel, and sibling Kat.
