Ila Marie
(Marshall) Laws
February 9, 1928 – October 17, 2018
Ila Marie (Marshall) Laws 90, of Salem, (Salem Twp.) died at 6:55 PM Wednesday at her home.
She was born on February 9, 1928 in Franklin Square, OH, the daughter of the late William Hugh and Wanda M (Mix) Marshall.
She had started working for the Ohio Bell Company as a telephone operator in Salem, then moved later to Youngstown. She retired at age 68, from AT&T with 33 years of service to the area. She was most recently attending services at the Believers Church, Boardman Campus.
Ila was a busy person and always on the go. She loved the bingo on Tuesday at St. Paul's, playing cards and bowling at Timberlanes, Hunt Club and in Columbiana. She and her husband did crafts and traveled to area shows and events. Ila was a volunteer for Mobile Meals and continued for many years. She also enjoyed to be with her family, reading, going fishing (or just watching) and family gatherings. She had attended a couple schools but ended up graduating in the class of 1946 from Salem.
She is survived by her children, Alan (Corrine) Laws of (Green Twp.) Salem, Kathy Marie Lodge, Salem, Kevin J. (Suzanne) Laws of Fairfax, VA, and Darin L. (Sheila) Laws of Struthers, a brother Marion (Julia) Marshall of Cleveland, seventeen grandchildren, twenty nine great grand children.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Lacy Ray Laws, whom she married on September 7, 1957 and who died February 6, 2000, and siblings, Meryl Thelma Niklavic, Fredia Fay Wilson, Wm. Lloyd Marshall, Vernon Leonard "Dub" Marshall, Beulah Mae Martin and Lester Owen Marshall, and two grandchildren.
Services will be on Saturday, October 20, 2018, 2:30 PM at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services. The Pastor Graham Cathers of the church will be officiating with burial immediately following in Franklin Square Cemetery. There will be no calling hours held.
