James A. Browning 73, of Salem, died at his home on Saturday, January 31, 2015. He was born on April 16, 1941 in Morrisville, Wva., the son of the late Howard and Stella (Fry) Browning. He was a truck driver for over 20 years with Yellow Freight and Givens. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Salem. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Ilda Blair, in 2009 and married on April 9, 1962. He is survived by his step children, Dale (Brenda) Dollison of Brilliant, Donald (Mary) Dollison and Darlene (Harlen) Santee both of Akron, siblings, Alice Nelson and Louise (Everett) Broughton both of Morrisvale, W.Va., Faye Nelson of Madison, W.Va. Nad Vada Linville of Alum Creek, W.Va., numerous grand children including Nick Riffel that he was close with, and great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, his caregiver Rose Thomas of Salem. In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his siblings Linford, Clifford, Franklin, Jack and Bernie Browning, Irene Stone and Jean Johnson, his brother-in-laws Hershel and James Nelson and Carlleal Linville. Services will be held on Saturday, 4 Pm at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the services.
