James Orville Campbell Sr., 81 of Salem, died at 8:25 AM Friday at his home. He was born on November 14, 1933 in Elkton, Ohio, the son of the late Garnet and Garnett (Shunkwiler) Campbell. He was a self employed truck driver for Fullerton Transfer and then moved to Quaker City Castings where her retired. He was an active member and usher of the Bunker Hill Methodist Church, served in the US Army during the Korean War and a member of the Salem American Legion Post 56. He is survived by his wife, the former Dolores Ann Duke whom he married on April 20, 1957, his children, Brian (Melodie) Campbell of St. Paris, Ohio, James (Erin) Campbell Jr. of Chantilly, Va., and David (Karen) Campbell of New Franklin, Ohio, siblings, Alexander Franklin (Gerta) Campbell of Texas, Phillip Wayne (Carol) Campbell of Georgia, and Ruth Ann (Richard) Duke of Salem, grandchildren, Nicholas Campbell, Nazara (Lowell) Floyd (Former US Army, Corp.), Staff Sgt. Phillip Campbell US Army, Sgt. Kyle Campbell US Army, Sandra (Jared) Heiner, Colin Campbell and Baylie Campbell, and four great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings, Theodore Richard Campbell, Francis Ray Campbell and Robert Bruce Campbell. A Celebration of Life Service will be observed on Saturday, December 20, 11 AM at the Bunker Hill Methodist Church. The Services will be officiated by Rev. Richard Thewlis, Rev. Jerrie Brion and Rev. Jane Ann Clarke, and military honors provided by the Salem Honor Guard. The burial will be in the Bunker Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church. Memorial contributions can be made to the church memorial fund.
