Obituary

James Michael Norkus 88, of Salem, died at 1:52 PM Monday at Salem Regional Medical Center following a short illness. He was born on December 6, 1927 in Pittsburgh, Pa, the son of the late Joseph and Pauline (Urban) Norkus. He has been a resident of the Salem area since 1954, when they moved here from Pittsburgh. Jim was a veteran of WW2 and served in both the US Coast Guard and the US Navy from 1944 thru 1946. He was a Cement Mason and worked under the Union for 40 years. He and his wife also operated Norkus Orchards and Sunshine Orchards in Salem Township. Jim was a catholic by faith. He is survived by his wife, the former Julia Ann Krenzelak whom he married on February 13, 1954, the children, Michael (Pam) Norkus and Santo (Chris) Sicilia who live at the family orchard, and Sam (Judy) Sicilia of Salem, ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Edward Norkus. No calling hours or services will be observed per Jim's request.
