Obituary

James (Jim) Michael Wargo, 77, of Salineville, OH., passed away on June 28, 2022, in his home after a two-year battle with cancer. Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, Jim managed his illness with quiet strength and grace. On his final day, he was surrounded by his loving family, who adored and respected him.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Vada J. (Homan) Wargo, whom he married in 1974, their three children: Shawn (Elizabeth) Wargo of Toledo, OH., Heather (Eric) Ives of Deering, ND., Christopher (Courtney) Wargo of Hanoverton, OH., and eight grandchildren. Jim was one of eleven children of Joseph and Elizabeth (Spevak) Wargo, his siblings include Delores Welch of Salineville, Leonard Wargo of Union City, CA., Jacob Wargo Cucamonga, CA., Betty Alexander of Green, OH., and Mary Ann (Joe) Pavelchak of Lakewood, OH. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings; David, Joseph, John, Gabriel Wargo, and Margaret Sanders.

Jim lived almost his entire life in the area and graduated from Southern Local in 1963. Jim was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Summitville, OH. In August of 1967, Jim went on to honorably serve in the US Army in Vietnam until June of 1969. After the military, his early years took him to work at General Motors in Lordstown, OH. Then he moved on to working in the coal industry as a Dragline Oiler with Buckeye Industries and later, Rose Bud Mining.

Jim enjoyed a simple, beautiful life on the family farm in Salineville, OH., with the love of his life, and his children. Jim was a loving husband, caring father, and Vada's number one supporter. He always put Vada and his family before himself, and never complained about the hardships of life. They were a great team supporting each other in every way. The family farm was where they lived and operated over the years, raising beef cattle, sheep, horses, and various crops. Jim and Vada also started Shepherd's Run Kennels together in 2008.

Jim was always grateful and found joy in the littlest things that life had to offer. He loved sitting around a bon fire in the evenings spending time with his family and friends or making a quick stop for an Italo's pizza. The kindness, love and compassion that he gave so freely over the years will be cherished by his family and friends. With a silly joke and a straight face, no one was a stranger for long.

He was hard working, genuine, compassionate, and loving to all, with a special place in his heart for his family and friends. He was a very clever man with a unique sense of humor that left you with a smile. Jim will be fondly remembered as a kind and generous man who was thoughtful in work and life.

The family will be having a Celebration of Life in the future in remembrance of Jim.

Arrangements were by the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem.
