Jerry Lewis Mounts 76, of Salem, died at 10 PM Friday at Essex of Salem #2. He was born on June 24, 1939 in Salem, the son of the late Bruce Batzli and Margaret Etta (Culler) Mounts and Step-Father George Mounts. Jerry and his brother Ted were very well know for the Auctioneer business they operated for over 50 years. The boys also operated a dairy farm with mostly Holstein cows, and some small crop farming. The boy grew up in Valley until 1952, then moved to the Gos hen Road. Jerry attended the Georgetown, Valley and then the Salem Schools. He was mainly a farmer, but did carpentry and furniture restorations. He showed his ponys for 50 years in a row in Show Wagons and carts. He never missed one of those shows. He was a member of the Ohio Auctioneers Association and Pony Breeders. He is survived by his wife, the former Doris Ann (Haefke) Mounts, whom he married on December 14, 1961. He is preceded in death in August 19, 2013 by his brother Ted Mounts. Services will be on Tuesday, 11 AM at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem. A time of visitation will be one hour prior to the services. The burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Donations can be made to any organization of the donor's choice.
