Obituary

John G. "Jack" Schragg 79, of Sebring, died Sunday evening, August 21, 2022, in the emergency room of Aultman/Alliance Community Hospital.

Jack was born September 20, 1942, in Negley, Ohio, son of the late John Thomas and Mary Alberta (Mackall) Schragg.

He is survived by his wife; Marcia Elaine (Smith) Schragg, whom he married April 3, 1965, his three children; Jean (David) Christian of Hartville, Cynthia (Chuck) Schalmo, and John (Heather) Schragg both from North Canton, his sister-in-law; Linda Giesecke of Cortland, and two grandchildren; ​Jordan Young and Gavin Schragg of Canton.

Jack was very well traveled at a young age, starting when he was just 3 years old, he and his ​parents ​enjoyed fishing and camping ​on the Trent River, Ontario Canada. After he married his wife in1965, he and Marcia enjoyed ​pontoon boating along the same, stopping at Peterborough, Buckhorn and Bobcaygeon making memories along the way. Jack worked for Salem Label and then MPI Label Systems where he eventually retired. Even after his retirement, Jack continued working for the company traveling all around the United States with his wife, while teaching OSHA compliance for inspections for the company. Jack was a religious man and he and Marcia attended a few different churches over the years. ​For a brief time, he sang in the choir and was a custodian for Sebring Presbyterian Church. He also attended Damascus Friends Church and ​was a current member of Alliance Friends Church. Jack enjoyed looking for antiques and taking day trips in the car. He also liked to sit back and relax and watch TV in his free time. He found joy in planting flowers and watching them grow. One of his many hobbies was creating with this scroll saw and ​spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Services will be this Saturday, 11 AM, at Alliance Friends Church (1307 West State Street Alliance, Ohio 44601) with Rev. Russ Gumm officiating. A time of visitation will be one hour before services. Jack served in the United States Air Force and was honorable discharged after serving 3 years. He will be receiving military honors at the beginning of the services on Saturday. The burial will take place at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem.
