John "Johnny B. Good"  "Bad" Good

John Leroy Good 81, of Salem, passed on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Hospice of the Valley Hospice House, Poland, Ohio.

He was born on October 23, 1944, in Salem, and was the beloved son of John and Margaret (Volk) Good.

John lived the best 81 years—embracing every day to the fullest. His life was filled with loving family, dear friends, and everyone he met along the way. A true social butterfly with a wonderful sense of humor, kindness, and an easygoing nature, John never met a stranger. Conversations came easily, strangers quickly became friends, and friends soon felt like family. He treasured the many friendships he formed wherever he went, especially through AMVETS, the VFW, and the Eagles.

John graduated from Salem High School and went on to work as a printer at various locations before retiring from The Salem News after more than 25 years of dedicated service. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, including service abroad during the Vietnam War.

John found great joy in camping, dancing, listening to music, being the life of the party, and watching sports—especially when shared alongside his son-in-law.

On July 8, 1972, John married the love of his life, Miriam Coleman. Together, they built a life rooted in love, devotion, and companionship, sharing 52 cherished years of marriage until her passing on January 9, 2024.

John's legacy lives on through their daughter, Kimberly and Keith (Mudgie) Williams; their son, Benjamin and Monica Good; and his beloved grandchildren, Keith and Karson Williams, and Reagan and Charley Good. He will be deeply missed by his sisters, Margaret Zimmerman and Helen Wellendorf; his brothers, Henry and Ronald Good; as well as many extended family members and friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Miriam and his brothers Walter and Thomas.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses, doctors, therapists, and medical personnel who helped make this past month easier.

A celebration of life service will be Saturday, January 10, 2026, 6 PM at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services in Salem, with Rev. Kari Lankford officiating. A time for visitation will be from 3-5:30 PM with military honors by the Salem Honor Guard at 5:30.

The family requests you to join them at the AMVETS around 6:30 PM for food, sharing memories, and a celebration of John's life, the partier we all know and love. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life—including a cold Miller Lite, Black Velvet, and Diet Coke—so let's have one for him.
