In Loving Memory of John Michael Sudia
October 1, 1957 – March 9, 2026
John Michael Sudia, a man of deep conviction, boundless curiosity, and a lifelong heart for service, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, March 9, 2026, at 10:47 AM. He was 68 years old.
Born on October 1, 1957, to the late John Joseph and Mary (Pasterchak) Sudia, John’s life was defined by his steady hand and his willingness to help those in need. Following a brief but honorable history of service in the U.S. Navy in 1978, he found his true calling in emergency medicine. For over 30 years, he served as a dedicated paramedic, providing a calm voice and a steady hand to those in their darkest hours.
His legacy of service reached a pinnacle on September 11, 2001. When the world watched in shock, John took action, traveling to New York City to lend his aid at the site of the World Trade Center. His bravery during those days was a testament to the man he was: someone who never hesitated to run toward the sound of trouble to help a stranger.
Beyond his professional life, John was a man who embraced the mysterious and the playful. He was an avid fan of the supernatural and loved embarking on ghost-hunting adventures, traveling wherever a spooky story or a haunted legend led him. When he wasn't chasing spirits, he was cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers or working on his collection of model trains. In his younger years, he was a true outdoorsman who loved to hunt, a passion that evolved into a love for organic gardening and a deep appreciation for the quiet beauty of nature. Even in his downtime, he kept his mind sharp and his spirit adventurous, often enjoying naval-themed video games.
On October 31, 2009, John married the love of his life, Nicole Lee (Cross) Sudia, beginning a chapter of deep devotion and shared happiness. Above all his achievements, John’s greatest joy was his family, whom he loved very much. He is survived by his beloved wife, Nicole, and his three children, who were his pride and joy: Jonathan Douglas Sudia of Salem, Joseph Michael Sudia of Brookfield, and Sophia Elizabeth Sudia of Salem. John’s warmth, his fascination with the unknown, and his unwavering dedication to his community will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
