Joseph Corle 85, formerly of 191 North Ellsworth Avenue, Salem, died at 9:33 AM Friday after a sudden illness at Salem Community Hospital. He was born on November 24, 1927 in Schellsburg, Pa., the son of the late Sewell Statler and Elizabeth Viola (Harr) Corl. He retired from Eljers Mfg. in Salem and then worked at Browns Amoco Gas station. A 1947 graduate of Greenfield Township High School. He is preceded in death on February 7, 1998 by his wife, the former Peggy O'Mara whom he married on April 11, 1953. He is survived by his children, Thomas Corle of Holland, Mi and Cynthia Corle of Salem, siblings, Betty Clark of New Jersey and Harry Corl of New York, grandchildren, Erin Milito of Ada, Mi, Kelli Flores of Kewaskum, Wis., and Eric Corle of Allendale, Mi, and two great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, wife, he is preceded in death by a son Joesph Corle Jr, siblings, Helen, Glenn, Gerald and Arlen Corl. Services will be held on Monday, 1:30 Pm in the Chapel of Hope Cemetery with the Rev. Douglas DeMar officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 Pm until the service in the chapel.
