Lois June (Kirkland) Poffenberger 84, of Salem passed away at 9:15 am Tuesday November 29, 2016 at West Branch of Auburn Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born on July 8, 1932 in Sisterville, WV to the late "Bo" and Marjorie (Smith) Kirkland. She worked in the kitchen of the gulf club from 1974 to 1984. She was on the PTO committee of the United school district and served on the ways and means committtee. She was the former den mother for Cub Scots Pack #62. She was an enthusiastic bowler and bowled on Tuesdays mornings at the former Timberlanes bowling alley. She also enjoyed gardening. She is survived by her husband, James W Poffenberger, whom she married on January 15, 1955, her sons Neil D (Amy) Poffenberger of Hanover, PA and Kirk D (Jennifer) Poffenberger, her sister, Carol Myers of Pittsburg, PA, eight grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Carl Kirkland, Don Kirkland, Betty Covch, and Marsha Cook, her son Mark J Poffenberger, and one grandson.
